Community Involvement, Charitable Giving & Fundraising, Oh My!

Newcomers isn't just a social activity club, oh no! Our membership is a talented, caring group of individuals and we want to share our talents with, and give back to, our community!

Each year the club selects a local charity as the beneficiary of the club's fundraising activities.

In years past we have hosted a family concert at the Tivoli Theatre performed by well-know artist Justin Roberts. We also hold an annual Year End Celebration with basket & raffle auctions. Each year we donate a portion of our proceeds to our selected charity for that year.

The club encourages member involvement with this selected charity. Not only do we have the opportunity to donate financially, but we can also participate in service projects for our chosen organization.

Members also have the chance to volunteer at many community events such as the Downers Grove Heritage Fest and the Bike and Buggy Parade.

Noah's Hope Fund & the DuPage Community Foundation

We selected this organization in order to help a local family who is struggling to raise awareness and research funds for Batten Disease, a rare and debilitating disease that has affected their lives deeply. 5 year-old Noah Van Houtan & his little sister, Laine, are both battling this disease. Noah's Hope Fund, through the DuPage Community Foundation, will go towards research funds for Batten Disease. Please click here for more information on Noah, Laine & Batten Disease.

An Affair With Flair!! Saturday, 4/10/10

9 am -1 pm @ Immanuel Lutheran Church

Proceeds to benefit Noah's Hope Fund

Shop for Mother's Day, teacher gifts or other gift-giving!! A variety of vendors and crafters will be offering their products and donating a portion of their proceeds to Noah's Hope! Newcomers cookbook "Dishing Up Downers Grove" will also be available for purchase. A benefit for Noah's Hope Fund.

Member Year End Dinner Tuesday, 5/4/10 This is a member event, but we are currently soliciting donations for our raffle and silent auction. All proceeds will benefit Noah's Hope Fund. Please contact our 2nd VP-Charity if you would like to donate.
